Nor'easter To Bring Heavy Rain, Possible Flooding To Eastern PA: Storm Timeline

Heavy rain and strong winds are on the way and could cause flooding throughout the region.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A coastal storm that could evolve into a powerful nor'easter late Monday or Tuesday is headed to the region, according to forecasters.

Heavy rain, coastal flooding and strong winds are possible, the National Weather Service says. Snow and ice could hit the Poconos as well.

"For the rest of the region, rain will come in during the day Mon & continue Mon night. Rain amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected across the region," the Weather Service's Mt. Holly branch shared. "Widespread flooding is not anticipated, but minor flooding in poor drainage areas is possible."

While rain will start in the afternoon in southeastern Pennsylvania, the heaviest rain is likely to come Monday evening.

A coastal flood warning is in place for lower Bucks, Philadelphia and Delaware counties, and a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for much of the region, citing flooding, wind and frost issues.

Rain likely, mainly after 5 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 52. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible.

Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 40. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph becoming east 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

Tuesday

Partly sunny, with a high near 53. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday night

Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind around 10 mph.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.
