Snow, Winter Weather Returning To Philly Area After 70 Degree Days
Another wild temperature swing is likely to once again bring snow into southeastern Pennsylvania this week, forecasters said.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — A day after thunderstorms and powerful winds accompanied by warm weather swept through the greater Philadelphia area, the region is bracing for an entirely different type of severe weather: a winter storm.
The drastic seasonal indecision will continue starting late Tuesday, as temperatures plummet into the 30s and rain and snow hit the region in the overnight hours.
Starting at around 3 a.m. some precipitation is expected, and that is predicted to continue throughout most of the day Wednesday and into the early evening hours on Wednesday evening. While accumulation totals could reach around 4 inches in parts of New Jersey and further up int he Poconos, most of the greater Philadelphia area should expect an inch or less, according to forecasters.

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute," the National Weather Service said in a statement.

Rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before 3 p.m., then rain and snow. High near 39. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A chance of rain and snow, mainly before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
