Multiple vehicles reportedly struck a pedestrian on Interstate 76 early Friday morning, shutting down a portion of the highway for hours.

PHILADELPHIA — A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Interstate 76 in Philadelphia early Friday morning, according to reports.

The crash occurred at about 3 a.m. on Interstate 76 west near Interstate 676 in the heart of Philadelphia, Action News reports.

Authorities told NBC10 that multiple vehicles struck a pedestrian.

That person reportedly died from their injuries.

Westbound traffic on Interstate 76 was shut down from Spring Garden Street to Girard Avenue as authorities investigated the scene, Fox 29 reports.

The highway was reopened by about 6:45 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
