PETA Criticizes Popeyes 'Emotional Support Chicken' At PHL
The animal rights group says the tongue-in-cheek offering at the Philly International Airport mocks mental illness and animal welfare.

PHILADELPHIA – Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen's "emotional support chicken" offering at the Philadelphia International Airport Gate C31 is under fire from PETA.
The animal rights group, known to take on hot topic issues tied to animal rights, went to Twitter to address the tongue-in-cheek offering meant to bring levity to stressful holiday travels.
"Emotional support chicken" at Popeyes is nothing shy of a clever marketing tactic in which customers at the C31 gate location can get a food carrier that says it contains chicken for emotional support.

PETA says the move mocks mental illness and the treatment of factory farm raised animals.
The group shared their version of the carrier, which describes the living conditions of a chicken raised for slaughter and says Popeyes is responsible for millions of chickens' deaths annually.

#Popeyes is selling boxes of dead “emotional support chickens” for the holidays, proving they’re not above mocking mental illness AND animals who died gruesome deaths.
