Philadelphia Man Charged In Fatal Roosevelt Boulevard Crash

PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia Police arrested a 24-year-old Philadelphia man in connection with the fatal crash on Roosevelt Boulevard that occurred Sunday, April 8, leaving one person dead and several others hurt.

Zamir Allen, 24, of the 3200 block of Ryan Street, is facing charges of homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, aggravated assault by DUI, DUI, providing false identification to law enforcement, and related crimes, police said.

Allen's charges stem from the three-vehicle crash on Roosevelt Boulevard at Tyson Avenue that occurred at about 6:43 a.m. Sunday, April 8 and killed 52-year-old Diana Como of the 6600 block of Montague Street.

Police said all three vehicles involved were heading north on the boulevard when a 2009 Red Chrysler 300 SRT driven by Allen struck a 2015 Black Nissan Rouge that was stopped at a red light, sending the Nissan forward and causing it to strike a 2005 Red Chevrolet Traverse.

The Chrysler came to a stop outside the Wawa parking lot on the northeast corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Tyson Avenue. The Nissan came to a stop in the median and the Chevy came to a stop at the Roosevelt-Tyson intersection, police said.

Allen suffered a broken leg and was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital where he was treated in critical condition.

The Nissan's driver, a 55-year-old man, was taken to Aria for unknown injuries and is in stable condition. Como was a passenger in the Nissan.

The Chevy's driver, a 49-year-old man, had minor body pains, and the passenger in the Chrysler, a 49 year-old man, was not injured, police said.
