Philadelphia Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Man Monday
A man is in critical condition after allegedly coming toward police while armed with a utility knife Monday evening in the Fairhill section.
PHILADELPHIA — A man is in critical condition after being shot by Philadelphia Police Monday night, according to authorities.
Police said the incident ocurred at about 10:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2 on the 3100 block North Front Street in the city's Fairhill neighborhood.
The man who was allegdly weidling a knife is in crticial condiution after being shot several times, police said.

According to police, two officers were driving in a patrol car when they a silver Nissan Titan going in reverse on the 100 block of East Wishart Street.
The officers saw a man jump onto the driver's side door of the Nissan and reach inside the vehicle, police said.

The Nissan sped away after police turned the patrol car's lights on and the man fell from the vehicel, standing in the middle of the road.
Both officers got out of their vehicle and saw the man was armed with a utility knife, police said.
They ordered him to drop the knife, but he refused and walked toward the officers, according to police.
One officer backpedaled toward Allegheny Avenue as the man continued to approached them, police said.
That officer then fired his weapon at the man several times, hitting him in the chest, according to police.
The man fell to his knees, but still had the knfe, police said. More officers converged on the man and ultimately disarmed him, police siad.
Police found an orange utility knife at the scene.
No police were hurt in the incident.
