MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — It doesn't get much more Delco than this.

A Phillie Phanatic cardboard cutout was stolen from the Wawa at 1242 W Baltimore Pike — down the street from Wawa corporate headquarters, the Wawa Preserve and the original Wawa Dairy Farm in the unincorporated community of Wawa, Pennsylvania.

State troopers, who handle law enforcement for Middletown Township, responded to the reported theft in the early morning of Aug. 28. A cardboard cutout of the Phillies mascot valued at $100 was stolen.

A black Jeep is believed to be involved, according to State Police incident logs released this week.

This came weeks after Wawa released a line of Phillies products, including a Phanatic Cream Smoothie featuring caramel syrup and sea salt caramel pretzels. The promotion ran through late September.

Despite the alleged theft of his likeness, the real Phillie Phanatic is safe. Although his employer has plenty of decisions to make after a third-straight early postseason collapse, the Mascot Hall of Famer is poised to entertain fans for his 50th baseball season next year.
