Phillies Fans Among Nation's Happiest, New Study Shows

PHILADELPHIA — It could be because the team's record is over 500, but a new study shows fans of the Philadelphia Phillies are among the happiest in the nation.

Sports betting website OLBG issued findings from a new research initiative they undertook to find out which fans of all the major sports leagues are the happiest.

And Phillies fans are in the top 10 happiest of all MLB fans per the report.

According to OLBG, the Phillies fans are No. 10 for happiest.

To determine the ranks, the website looked each team's social media channels to reveal those with the most followers, average number of likes, and love-to-angry ratio.

With those factored in, Phillies fans have an overall fan happiness score of 5.69.

"While the largest and most successful teams often generate the most public interest, which in turn can translate into a larger community of fans, they aren’t necessarily the most enthusiastic or committed groups," the website reads. "Smaller teams often benefit from having close ties to their local community, hiring local talent, and hosting community events."

While Phillies fans made the top 10, fans of the Flyers, Union, 76ers, and Eagles were not in the top 10 happiest fan bases for the teams' respective leagues.
