Philly Drape Company Now Making Surgical Masks Amid Coronavirus

Vitalia Window Treatments is making surgical masks for medical professionals and first responders in Philadelphia and across the country.

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia-based drapery is shifting its operations to support those working on the front lines of the local outbreak of the new coronavirus, known as COVID-19.

Vitalia, Inc. Window Treatments owner Vitalia "Vita" Vygovska said that her company will begin production of the surgical masks for medical professionals and first responders locally in Philadelphia and across the country.

“What can I do to help? It’s the question that I ask myself, as I try to make sense of the current situation," Vygovska said. "Yesterday, I heard a report on the news about hospitals in such dire need of face masks, that medical staff is forced to reuse all their disposable PPE. Light bulb! My company Vitalia Inc can help! We know how to sew. We have the equipment. And we want to be of value."

“I have been reaching out to local hospitals with the offer of our services. But getting to the right people has been challenging," Vygovska said.
