3 Philly-Area Natives Earn Oscar Nominations
Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Colman Domingo, and Bradley Cooper are all representing the Philadelphia area among this year's Oscar nominees.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia's star just keeps on rising in Hollywood, this time with three Philadelphia-area natives earning Academy Award nominations
Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Colman Domingo, and Bradley Cooper were announced as nominees for the 96th Academy Awards.

Randolph has been nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the film "The Holdovers."
Randolph earned a Golden Globe Award for the role earlier this year.

The 37-year-old was born in Philadelphia and raised in the Mt. Airy neighborhood before attending Temple University, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree.
She has appeared in numerous films and televisions shows, including "Only Murders in the Building," "Trolls World Tour," and "The United States vs. Billie Holiday."
Randolph has also been nominated for a Tony Award for her role as Oda Mae Brown in the musical adaption of "Ghost."
"The Holdovers" stars Paul Giamatti and Dominic Sessa, who was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, alongside Randolph.
Directed by Alexander Payne, the film focuses on a private school teacher (Giamatti), a student stuck at the school over winter break (Sessa), and the school's cook (Randolph), whose son died in Vietnam.
It has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor (Giamatti), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing.
Domingo, who also has a BA from Temple, was nominated for the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal as socialist civil rights icon Bayard Rustin in "Rustin."
Rustin himself was born in West Chester and attended what is now Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
Cooper earned a few nominations for his film "Maestro," in which he plays legendary composer Leonard Bernstein. The Abington native and Germantown Academy grad is up for Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Original Screenplay. "Maestro" also got nominations for Best Actress (Carey Mulligan), Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Sound.

The 96th Oscars will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, and will air on ABC.
