Philly Offices Closing, Services Suspended For Memorial Day

Monday's trash and recycling collections will be pushed back to Tuesday May, 29, which will push all collections back one day for the week.

PHILADELPHIA – Monday, May 28 marks Memorial Day. And with the somber holiday comes the closing of City of Philadelphia offices and service suspensions.

All City of Philadelphia offices will be closed Monday, May 28 and will reopen on Tuesday, May 29.

  • City District Health Centers;
  • all branch offices of the Department of Licenses and Inspections;
  • the North and Northeast Municipal Service Centers;
  • the Marriage License Bureau;
  • all Philadelphia Parks & Recreation facilities;
  • the Free Library of Philadelphia and all of its branches;
  • and the executive offices of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, as well as its Violations branch, at 9th and Filbert streets.

Trash and recyclables will not be collected on Memorial Day either.

Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams urges residents whose normal collection is on Monday to set out their rubbish and recycling for collection on Tuesday, May 29.

Trash and recycling collections will be one day behind schedule for the remainder of the week.

All Philadelphia Department of Prisons facilities will be closed to visitors on Memorial Day.
