Philly Public Schools Closing Early Again Thursday
Thursday's early dismissal will mark the fifth early dismissal in the two weeks school has been in session this year.

PHILADELPHIA – Heat will yet again get students in the School District of Philadelphia out of class early, as the district announced another early dismissal for students on Thursday Sept. 6 with high heat as the cause.
The district said all schools will dismiss students at noon Thursday.
All after-school activities, including all athletic programs and professional development sessions, scheduled for Thursday are canceled.

According to the district, just 27 percent of the district's school buildings have central air conditioning and that as heat builds during the day, buildings are experiencing uncomfortable conditions.
All district schools dismissed early on three days last week, Aug. 28, Aug. 29, and Aug. 30. It also is dismissing students early Wednesday, Sept. 5 due to heat.
