Philly Schools Dismissing Early Thursday As Heat Continues
Schools are closing early for the third day in a row Thursday due to excessive heat and a lack of central air conditioning in the schools.

PHILADELPHIA – All School District of Philadelphia schools will again dismiss students early on Thursday as oppressive heat lingers in the Philadelphia area.
The district said students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
All after-school activities, including all athletic programs and professional development sessions, scheduled for Thursday are canceled.

According to the district, just 27 percent of the district’s school buildings have central air conditioning and that as heat builds during the day, buildings are experiencing uncomfortable conditions.
