PHILADELPHIA — Without community leaders, Philadelphia wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

What does this community leader do?

President/CEO of Campaign for Working Families, Inc. nonprofit addressing the financial well-being of underserved families by connecting them with quality and fair financial resources and services.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Her leadership role in providing economic empowerment as an advocate for financial stability for individuals and families, operating free community-based tax sites, maximizing federal and state tax credits, accessing public benefits for individuals and families, and providing workforce training and experiences for individuals in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Dr. Owens, a child of the welfare care system, leads efforts that help elevate and build people up academically, socially, and financially. She makes a meaningful difference in under-served and communities of color. She says that this path "has been the trajectory of my life." As President/CEO of Campaign for Working Families, with passion and purpose, her vision is to effectively help working families and individuals reach economic mobility through her volunteer-based organization.
