Prisoner Escapes While Out On Work Detail In Philadelphia
Gino Hagenkotter, 34, escaped Philadelphia Department of Prisons custody while out on a work detail in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday
PHILADELPHIA — An inmate at a Philadelphia prison escaped Thursday while on an outside work detail in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.
Gino Hagenkotter, 34, escaped just before while working in the orchard behind the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Facility at 8201 State Road. Hagenkotter is at large as of 4 p.m. Thursday.
Hagenkotter is serving a sentence for charges related to theft and burglary and met the criteria to have an outside work assignment, officials said.

Authorities said Hagenkotter, despite being in minimum custody, should not be approached and anyone who sees him or is contacted by him should immediately call the police.

This marks the second escape incident this year of Philadelphia prison inmates. In May, Nasir Grant and Ameen Hurst escaped the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center.
The two were later captured, and several others were charged in relation to their escape.
Authorities said problems such as aging technology and staffing issues led to their escape.
