PHILADELPHIA – Nearly 30 people were arrested and cited Tuesday at an anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest, less than a week after six others were arrested and cited during a protest at the same ICE building in Philadephia, police said.
Protesters around the nation are calling for the abolition of ICE, which ramped up after the Trump Administration began its controversial policy of separating children from parents after illegal border crossings.
On Friday, June 28, about 5o people were protesting at the ICE building on the 800 block of Cherry Street, police said. Six were cited for failure to disperse and released on the scene, police said at the time.

About 75 people went to the building Tuesday to continue the anti-ICE protests, according to Philadelphia Police.
Police said 29 people were arrested and cited with failure to disperse Tuesday. All 29 were released after being issued citations.

One person being arrested was taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries during the arrests, police said. That person and another had minor scrapes and bruises, police said.
Organizers listed three main points for the protest: stopping deportations through abolishing ICE; ending family detentions through closing facilities, specifically the center in Berks County; and that the City of Philadelphia cancel its contract to share its legal database with ICE.
