Philadelphia Controller Rebecca Rhynhart is expected to resign Tuesday as she makes her bid to take over the mayor's office.
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Controller Rebecca Rhynhart is expected to leave her position Tuesday as she plans to run for mayor.
The Philadelphia Inquirer and KYW report Rhynhart is hosting a news conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday where she is expected to announce her resignation and candidacy.
Rhynhart, a Democrat who was elected controller in 2017, has previously served as the city's Treasurer, Budget Director, and Chief Administrative Officer in Mayor Jim Kenney’s administration.

Others vying for the mayor's office are Derek Green, Maria Quiñones-Sánchez, Alan Domb, and Cherelle Parker, all former Philadelphia City Council members and Democrats.
