SEIU Unions for All March To Affect Traffic In Philly Sunday

PHILADELPHIA — The SEIU Unions for All March will occur Sunday in Philadelphia, and that means traffic will be impacted.

The march will start at about 2 p.m. on North Broad Street outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center and end at 500 Market Street at about 5 p.m. Formation of the march will begin at about 11 a.m.

Traffic delays will occur during the event, as well as during setup and breakdown.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area by using alternate routes.

Road Closures

The following streets will be closed beginning at 2 a.m. until about 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 19:

  • 400 Market Street
  • 500 Market Street
  • 600 Market Street

All numbered streets will remain open until the commencement of the march.

The following streets will be closed for the march formation beginning at 11 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday:

  • North Broad Street between Arch Street and Vine Street (both directions)

Cross streets will remain open until the commencement of the march.

The following streets will be closed on a rolling basis for the march starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. until approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday:

  • North Broad Street between Arch Street and JFK Boulevard
  • JFK Boulevard between Juniper Street and 15th Street
  • Juniper Street between JFK Boulevard and S. Penn Square
  • S. Penn Square between Juniper Street and South Broad Street
  • Market Street between Juniper Street and 6th Street
    • Includes closure of numbered cross streets on a rolling basis
  • 6th Street between Arch Street and Chestnut Street
  • Chestnut Street between 4th Street and 6th Street
  • 5th Street between Walnut Street and Arch Street

Streets will be opened on a rolling basis as march participants clear intersections and the roads are serviced.

Additional road closures may be implemented at the discretion of Philadelphia Police and public safety officials based on conditions.

Drivers are advised to use caution when traveling in the affected areas, allow for extra travel time, and obey all posted signs and instructions from Philadelphia Police.

Parking Restrictions

The streets listed above will be posted as “Temporary No Parking” zones on Sunday. Motorists must adhere to “Temporary No Parking” signs. Vehicles parked in these areas during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

Public Transportation

SEPTA Bus Routes utilizing North Broad Street, JFK Boulevard and Market Street will be detoured from their normal routes while closures are in place. Detours will be posted, and specific route changes are available on the System Status Page at online here.
