SEPTA Trolley Modernization: Give Your Feedback By July 24
SEPTA wants to modernize Philadelphia's trolley network with fully accessible stations and more room for riders. Give your feedback online.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — A public survey is up for SEPTA trolley riders in Philadelphia and Delaware County to give the transit authority input on "how new and updated stations, cars, and stops will look and operate in the future."
The survey is available until July 24. SEPTA is also doing "pop-up" events at key trolley stations to speak with people in-person.
Current trolleys have been in use since the 1980s, SEPTA said. The new trolleys have more room for passengers and be fully accessible to people with wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers.

"The new fleet will have low floors and ramps; wider pathways; audio and visual messaging systems to communicate upcoming stops and service changes; and designated open space for people with wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers," SEPTA said.
The transit authority will also build new on-street stations and rebuild underground stations to make them fully accessible.

"The Authority is also making significant operational and infrastructure improvements and extending some trolley lines to key locations to make connections to other SEPTA services easier," the transit authority said. "SEPTA is working on new and improved maintenance facilities to serve the new fleet."
SEPTA is also proposing line extensions "that will make it easier for riders to reach more destinations and connect to more SEPTA services, improve operations, and have more room for passenger and operator amenities."
SEPTA's eight trolley lines connect communities in West Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, and Delaware County across 68 miles.
