Several Dogs Attack Man In West Philadelphia: Police

Police said the man was in critical condition after he was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A man is in critical condition after he was attacked by several dogs Wednesday in West Philadelphia, according to police.

Philadelphia police said officers were responding to a report of shots fired around 1:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of North 62nd Street when they discovered the man being attacked by multiple dogs.

According to police, an officer fired his gun and struck two dogs. One of the dogs was killed, according to a 6ABC report.

The man was taken to Lankenau Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The officers suffered no injuries, according to authorities.

A neighbor told NBC Philadelphia the 60-year-old victim was likely disoriented before he walked into a yard where the dogs were located.

“He didn’t know where he was at. So, when the lady came out that lived there, she just told him to get off the property," neighbor Kenny McGraw told the station. "So, when he was getting off the property instead of him coming back to the street, he went through her walkway to the alley."

Police provided no additional details about the attack.
