South Philly Street Race Crash Leaves Woman Critical: Police
A woman watching the race may lose her leg after one vehicle lost control and struck her early Sunday morning, police said.
PHILADELPHIA — A woman is in critical condition and in danger of losing her leg after a vehicle lost control during a street race and struck her, according to police.
Philadelphia Police said the woman was struck when two vehicles partook an illegal street race on northbound 3rd Street between Packer and Pattison avenues at about 12:08 a.m. Sunday.
Two vehicles, both Dodge Chargers with one white and the other a dark color, were racing side by side when the white Charger (2019 Dodge Charger SRT) lost control.

The vehicle swerved east into a crowd of people and two parked vehicles.
A 45-year-old woman who was watching the race o the side of the road was struck and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was listed in critical condition and is expected have her right leg amputated.

After the crash, men got out of the white Dodge Charger and left on foot. The dark-colored Dodge Charger continued heading north on 3rd Street and never returned to the scene.
Police said a white unmarked tow truck was seen towing the damaged white Charger away from the scene.
