Teen Arrested In Center City SEPTA Station Stabbing Incident

A teenage boy has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and related charges after allegedly stabbing two other teens April 25.

PHILADELPHIA – A 16-year-old boy is facing attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related charges in connection with the stabbing of two other teens at the 8th and Market SEPTA stop on April 25, according to Philadelphia Police.

Edward Jefferson, 16, of the 1600 block of West Juniata Street, surrendered to police at about 9:47 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, police said.

Jefferson has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court documents.

Jefferson is accused of stabbing two 17-year-old boys at the 8th and Market SEPTA stop the afternoon of Wednesday, April 25.

One was stabbed in the neck, stomach, and chest; the other was stabbed in the chest and stomach and also suffered a cut on his wrist.

Its' unclear what condition the boys are in now, but they were initially listed in critical condition.

Jefferson was released from custody after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail, court records show.

He is slated to appear for his preliminary hearing on May 11, according to court documents.
