Temple Coach Geoff Collins Leaving For Georgia Tech
Geoff Collins took over Temple's football team only about two years ago when Matt Rhule left for Baylor. Now, Collins is heading to Georgia.

PHILADELPHIA – Temple Football will be looking for a new head coach soon, as Geoff Collins is leaving to head south.
Collins is leaving the Owls to coach at Georgia Tech, Temple University.
Temple's Director of Athletics Dr. Patrick Kraft released a statement on Collins' departure Friday, saying Collins "helped us build on past successes and led us to two consecutive bowl games and an eight-win season in 2018."

"We wish Geoff, Jennifer and Astrid all the best in Atlanta and we thank them for their service to Temple University," Kraft said. "While it is always difficult to lose a head coach, it is a testament to what we have built at Temple through our students, our fans, our alumni and our donors that we can continue to have success."
Collins is an Atlanta native.

Temple is now looking across the nation for its next head coach while assistant head coach Ed Foley serves in the interim, including the upcoming Independence Bowl.
"I would remind our passionate fans that the only accurate information about candidates or the process will come from me but not until the conclusion of the search," Kraft said. "Finally, I want to thank the tremendous young men in our football program who remain steadfast and vigilant in their commitment to their academic progress, their football development and to the greater Temple community."
Collins led the Owls to an 8-4 record in 2018 and a 7-6 record in 2017.
He took over coaching duties when Matt Rhule left for Baylor in 2016.
The past two years have been special, @CoachCollins, and we thank you for that. To all of our Owls, let’s keep flying high. #TempleMade
