Toddler's Fatal Drowning In Philadelphia Home Raises Suspicions: Police
Witness statements have been inconsistent about the child's location during the incident, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A toddler died after drowning Thursday in a Philadelphia home. Investigators say witness statements about the incident have been inconsistent.
Authorities responded to an emergency medical call around 7:15 p.m. at a house on the 1800 block of East Somerset Street in the Kensington neighborhood.
At the scene, officers found emergency medical personnel treating a 1-year-old girl inside an ambulance. Police say the child drowned inside the home.

She was brought to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m.
Inside the home, officers noticed a basin filled with water in a second-floor bathroom and water covering much of the first-floor dining room, according to 6abc Action News and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

At this point, there are inconsistencies in witness statements about the child's location during the incident, police said Friday morning.
The investigation remains active with detectives from the Special Victims Unit.
