Trump Campaign Recorded Philly Ballot Drop Boxes: Reports

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said recording voters at drop boxes could be considered illegal voter intimidation.

PHILADELPHIA — The Trump campaign has admittedly recorded voters who are dropping off ballots in Philadelphia, according to reports.

Multiple outlets report the campaign video recorded ballot drop boxes in the city in an effort to spot people casting more than one ballot.

According to the New York Times, the Trump campaign last week filed a formal complaint to the city, alleging a representative saw on video voters dropping of multiple ballots instead of just their own.

Pennsylvania Attorney General said the practice could be considered as illegal voter intimidation.

"We won't tolerate voter intimidation," Shapiro said in a statement. "We are aware of reports of disturbances at drop boxes and most situations have been handled by local election officials. We are working with local officials, are prepared to respond if needed, and are watching for patterns across the Commonwealth."

However, officials with the city it's unclear if filming voters dropping off ballots is inappropriate under Pennsylvania law, according to Fox 29.

A Trump campaign lawyer demanded that the names of all voters who had used a drop box in front of City Hall on Oct. 14 be turned over to the campaign, the Times reports.

A city representative refuted the claim of inappropriate voting behavior, saying dropping off someone else's ballot is allowed under certain circumstances, according to NBC10.
