Uncle Fatally Shot By Nephew Friday: Philadelphia Police

Philadelphia Police believe Dontae White, 35, died after being shot in the head by his 24-year-old nephew during a domestic disturbance.

PHILADELPHIA — An uncle is dead, and Philadelphia Police believe it was his nephew who killed him.

Police said Dontae White, 35, died after being shot at about 3:18 a.m. Friday on the 5600 block of Ridgewood Street.

Police were called to the area for a report of a shooting and found White suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at 3:33 a.m.

According to authorities, preliminary investigation indicates White was shot during a domestic disturbance involving his 24-year-old nephew. The nephew, whose identity was not given, was taken into custody at the scene and taken to the police department's homicide unit.

Police are still investigating the shooting, and will provide an update on charges later.
