Viking Statue Toppled On Boathouse Row Into Schuylkill: Police
The statue of Icelandic adventurer Thorfinn Karlsefni on Boathouse Row was knocked over into the river by a group of juveniles, police said.

PHILADELPHIA – An historic statue along Boathouse Row in Philadelphia was toppled into the Schuylkill River early Tuesday morning by a group of juveniles, according to Philadelphia Police.
Police the statue of Icelandic explorer Thorfinn Karlsefni at the end of Boathouse Row next to the lighthouse on Kelly Drive was knocked over by six to seven juvenile vandals.
The statue, that has stood since 1920, was pushed into the Schuylkill River.

Police said when officers arrived on scene at about 2:05 a.m. Tuesday.
The teens used ropes to pull down the statue, police said.

According to Action News, the statue is still in the river as of Tuesday morning.
Patch has reached out to the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy for more information on the incident and will update the story when details are made available.
Police are investigating the incident.
