Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- See any wicked witches, yellow brick roads or ruby slippers on Saturday evening? The National Weather Service confirmed that a EF-1 Tornado tore through Cinnaminson, NJ a neighboring Philly suburb just across the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge. Around 7 p.m. winds reached over 100 m.p.h. and snapped utility poles, uprooted trees, blew off siding, lawn furniture and yes, even some port-o-potties from construction sites were blown over as the tornado touched down on a six-mile stretch just missing Philly along the Delaware River. (6abc Philadelphia).
- "I'm 17 years old. I've been a victim of gun violence for 17 years." Those were the cold, hard facts stated by Ryshee Shaw, a student at Samuel Fels High who lost his father to gun violence 17 years ago. He joined dozens of other Philly teens who marched and rallied around Philadelphia City Hall on Sunday to say "We are tired of living in a war zone!" (inquirer.com)
- "I am so happy to be home. I'm excited to be the father and husband I want to be and the senator Pennsylvania deserves." Those were the words of PA Senator John Fetterman as he was released from the Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C. after he suffered a stroke during his senate campaign last fall and then suffered from clinical depression.(cbsnews.com)
