PHILADELPHIA — A ChristianaCare employee shot two fellow workers, killing one, at the health care provider's Wilmington hospital before he was arrested Tuesday in Philadelphia, according to police and hospital representatives.

John Wallace-Bey, 23 of New Castle, Delaware, opened fire Tuesday afternoon inside ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital, authorities said.

One victim succumbed to his injuries, while the other remains hospitalized in critical-but-stable condition, Wilmington Police said Wednesday morning.

Both victims were 19-year-old men, police said. Police plan to release the deceased victim's name later on.

Wallace-Bey was arrested Tuesday night in Philadelphia, where he remains in custody pending extradition to Delaware. He will be charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, and weapons offenses.

"Our preliminary investigation has determined that this was a targeted, isolated incident," Wilmington Police said.

Authorities have not shared any possible motive.

Wilmington Hospital locked down after Tuesday afternoon's shooting. The hospital fully reopened that evening.

"Our community is mourning a tragic shooting that occurred earlier today at our Wilmington Hospital campus," ChristianaCare said in a statement. "The situation has been resolved, and the campus is now open, safe and secure with no ongoing threat to patients, caregivers or visitors."

The incident remains under investigation.
