Woman Groped By Group Of Teens On Schuylkill River Trail: Cops

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- A group of teenagers surrounded a victim roller blading on the Schuylkill River Trail, and at least one of them groped her, according to a police report.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 15 at around 5:30 p.m., police said.

The suspects, a group of around eight or nine black males, rode up to the woman while she was roller blading on the trail near Center City and groped her body. She yelled out for help, and the boys eventually fled.

Assaults of this kind are, unfortunately, nothing new on the Schuylkill River Trail, which was named the nation's Best Urban Trail in 2015. Runners, bikers, and walkers have been reporting incidents for years. Incidents in 2016 sparked calls from various fitness groups for police to improve security on the trail.

In addition to sexual assaults targeting females, there have been incidents of harassment and robbery, often by young males on bikes.

The group of teens was last seen riding away from the trail in the direction of City Hall.
