Woman Shot, Killed In Car Near Busy Philly Playground

At least 28 shots were fired Monday evening in the Feltonville neighborhood, killing a woman in her 30s who was sitting in a vehicle.

PHILADELPHIA — A woman died after being shot while inside a vehicle near a busy Philadelphia park Monday evening.

The shooting occurred at about 6 p.m. on the 500 block of East Loudon Street in Feltonville, according to Action News.

A woman in her 30s was sitting in a tan Honda Civic on that block, at that time, when at least two people in a white SUV fired at least 28 shots, 15 of which struck the Civic, NBC10 reports.

Police said the gunmen appeared to have been targeting the Civic, which was registered in the victim's name, but are unclear if the woman herself was the target.

At least 100 people were at a playground right across the street from the shooting scene, police said.

"We are very lucky there are no additional shooting victims," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
