PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia authorities have charged a woman they said attacked and robbed a 66-year-old woman who was waiting for a SEPTA bus last month.

Janesha Pickett, 35, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery, and related crimes, Philadelphia Police said.

The charges stem from an incident that took place at 6:39 a.m. Jan. 18 at the intersection of Benner Street and Castor Avenue.

According to police, the victim was waiting for a Route 59 SEPTA bus when at least two people got out of a red Jeep SUV.

One of those people, described as a Black woman in her twenties who was wearing a mask, grabbed the victim’s book bag, police said.

During a struggle over the bag, the victim was knocked to the ground and dragged, police said.

The suspect then used a taser on the victim's arms and hands to take the bag from her, according to police.

The bag was then taken, and the suspects drove off in the same red Jeep, authorities said.

Police said the bag contained personal identifiers and about $500 cash. After the suspects drove off, the bus arrived, and the driver helped the victim to her feet.

Authorities identified Pickett as one of the suspects and took her into custody Wednesday. She is being held on 10 percent of $100,000 bail and is scheduled for a Feb. 26 preliminary hearing, court documents show.
