Woman Tried To Burn Pro-Police Flag At Philly Pride Parade: Cops

Ryan Segin, 18, was arrested after allegedly trying to burn a thin blue line flag during Philadelphia's Pride Parade, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia Police said an 18-year-old New Jersey woman tried to set an pro-police "thin blue line" American flag ablaze during Philadelphia’s Pride Parade on Sunday, June 10, and she now faces charges in connection with the incident.

Police said Ryan Segin, 18, of Woodbine, New Jersey, was arrested after trying to light the flag on fire at about 12:10 p.m. Sunday in a crowd at 12th and Locust streets in a crowd during Sunday's event.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Segin is now facing attempted arson, risking catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of an instrument of crime charges, court records show.

Segin was arraigned Monday June 11 in a Philadelphia court and had bail set at 10 percent of $50,000, according to court documents.

Her preliminary hearing is slated for June 25.

Previous information provided to Patch incorrectly stated the flag was an American flag when in fact it was a pro-police "thin blue line" American flag.
