There's been an overwhelming response to the Upper Providence family that lost their home in a fire during the holiday season. A total of $34,865 has been raised by 455 people in the seven days that an online fundraiser has been underway.
The Reitingers and their four children certainly didn't plan for the holidays to go this way.
The fire began at about 3:54 p.m. on the first block of Marchwood Drive, the day after Christmas.

The blaze began in the garage before quickly spreading throughout the home, authorities said.
While the Reitingers were all evacuated and were not injured, their garage, home and two cars were destroyed.

The fire was placed under control in about an hour. Units were cleared from the scene by about 6 p.m.
It's not yet clear what caused the fire, and it remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, hundreds have flocked to a GoFundMe site set up to support the couple and their family. As of Tuesday afternoon, seven people had donated $500 gifts to the family. A string of others left comments offering toys, clothes, and other necessities.
