8th Grader Brings Knife To Phoenixville Middle School: Police

Police were called to Phoenixville Middle School recently when an 8th grade student brought a knife onto school property.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Phoenixville Police Department has published its latest list of "notable" calls, covering the time period from Nov. 9 to Nov. 12.

Among the most notable of incidents was a 13-year-old eighth grade student who brought a knife with him to school, authorities said.

Police responded to the middle school on Nov. 10 at 1:48 p.m. after receiving the call.

The student still had the knife when police arrived, according to police reports. It's not clear why he had it.

No one was injured during the incident, and the student was charged as a juvenile with a weapons offense.

Altogether, during the course of those four days, police responded to a total of 61 calls and four accidents. All information is courtesy of the police department:

On 11/09/2017 at 7:54PM, an employee at Walgreens reported that he received a concerning message on Facebook from a friend in Africa. The friend from Africa sent him an image of his deceased father and he thought it was strange because he never met the man in person.

On 11/10/2017 at 3:54PM, a resident in the 300 block of Third Avenue reported that there were two chickens walking on the sidewalk. The resident called back before the officer arrived and informed us that the chickens made it home safely.

On 11/10/2017 at 4:46PM, police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue. One of the neighbors accused the other of hitting his fence with a trash can and Officer Glennon was able to mediate the dispute. The men agreed to be neighborly should they have to interact with one another moving forward.

On 11/10/2017 at 10:43PM, police were called to Phoenixville Hospital by a 38 year old Exton man who was not happy with the treatment he received at the hospital and he asked the officer to drive him to Chester County Hospital. The officer informed him that he would have to find his own transportation or return to the Phoenixville ER.

On 11/11/2017 at 1:56AM, a 27 year old man from Audubon pulled into the drive-thru at Taco Bell and waited by the speaker box for several minutes. Eventually, an employee told the man the restaurant was closed. As the man was leaving, he crashed his Ford Explorer into a concrete barrier next to the building. In addition to being hungry, the man was intoxicated and he was arrested by Officer Rosario for DUI and released.

On 11/11/2017 at 2:18AM, Officer Dobry observed a man urinating on the front door of the Steel City Coffeehouse on Bridge Street. The officer issued the 23 year old Perkasie man a summons for disorderly conduct.

On 11/11/2017 at 6:26AM, police responded to the Phoenixville Hospital ER for an unruly patient. Officers arrived and the man told them that he was upset because he wanted to use the bathroom. Once he relieved himself, the man returned to his gurney and fell asleep.

On 11/11/2017 at 3:22PM, an East Pikeland Twp. police officer requested assistance identifying a motorist he had stopped on Rt. 113 at Rapps Dam Road. The 44 year old West Chester man was surprised when Officer Dobry pulled up because the officer knew him from prior contacts in Phoenixville and gave him up.

On 11/11/2017 at 4:46PM, a 33 year old Collegeville woman reported that her Ford F-150 was keyed while it was parked in the municipal lot on Main Street. While the officer was taking the report, a 23 year old man from Lewes, DE approached the officer and reported that his girlfriend’s VW Jetta had also been keyed.

On 11/11/2017 at 10:56PM, Sgt. Sutton found a car in Reservoir Park after the park was closed. The occupants, an 18 year old man and a 16 year old girl- both from Phoenixville, were drinking Corona beer and smoking weed. They were issued several summonses for the violations and the girl was given a ride home and released to her mother.

On 11/12/2017 at 1:28AM, Officer Dobry was on bike patrol and observed a man urinating on the sidewalk on Bank Street (alley). The 22 year old Collegeville resident was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.

On 11/12/2017 at 2:47PM, Officer Stabilo observed a man wandering around downtown. The 30 year old Coatesville resident told the officer that his friends left him at a bar and are not answering their phones. Due to the extreme cold weather, the officer drove the man to the police station and let him hang out in the lobby until he could find someone to pick him up.

On 11/12/2017 at 12:18PM, police responded to the 700 block of Cedar Drive for a rabid raccoon in a resident’s driveway. Sgt. Frost destroyed the animal and contacted the Department of Health due to several reports of sick raccoons in the area recently. The DOH declined to test the animal for rabies because nobody had been bitten.

On 11/12/2017 at 12:40PM, the Ridley Township PD recovered a 2006 Ford Explorer that was reported stolen on March 13th by a resident who lives in the 200 block of Bridge Street.
