U.S. District Judge William Pauley III wrote that the 9/11 attacks could have been prevented if U.S. law enforcement agencies had the means they currently have under the "bulk telephony metadata collection program."

Why then didn't they stop the Boston Marathon bombers ?

 240 years after the birth of press freedom, the U.S. treatment of the news media ranks between Haiti's and Romania's  marking a disturbing retreat from democratic practices.
A report released by the five-member Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board found that the NSA's program is illegal and should be shut down because no terrorist threats have been discovered through mass data collection.
