PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A fledgling Phoenixville bagel shop that was struck down by a fire just days after its grand opening is making progress in restoring its dream and reopening its doors once more.
Street Cart Bagel opened up at the site of the old Pizza Hut, on 240 Nutt Road, in mid-February. But early in the morning of March 3, a fire broke out in their venting system, causing significant damage to the building and forcing them to shut down.
They immediately began to rebuild.
"No bagels yet, and still temporarily closed, but hoping to have more updates (soon)," the eatery shared recently. "It won’t be long, folks. Street Cart Bagels is like the spring, waiting to burst forth! Yes, it’s agonizing, all this waiting..."
An exact reopening date remains unclear, but it seems inevitable. They're already hiring to fill out the remaining staff positions.
Street Cart is taking the opportunity to redesign the building, as well. They're planning to put a mural up on the side, and recently asked the public for feedback on designs.
Owners aim to bring "old school NYC street food" to the borough. They touted malt-boiled, slow fermented bagels, and opened to rave reviews from locals.
