PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Route 23 will be shut down near Bridge Street in Phoenixville for several hours each weekday through November as part of the ongoing construction project along the corridor.
The closure will shut down the intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, from April 27 through Nov. 20.
Construction crews will remove median islands from the intersection and reconfigure the roadway. They'll also mill and repave it.
This is in addition to the ongoing periodic lane closures on Route 23 near the Township Line Road intersection, which will also be in place through Nov. 20.
Drivers will be detoured to Bridge Street, Gay Street, 5th Avenue, and Route 23.
Significant delays are expected as the new traffic flow is implemented, and drivers should plan for additional travel time in the area.
The larger $2.5 million Route 23 improvement project runs from Route 724 to Whitehorse Road, covering parts of Phoenixville, East Pikeland, and Schuylkill Township.
