PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville has canceled several events ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend, including First Friday, PXV Inside Out, and the music series, they announced Wednesday.
However, the fireworks celebration on July 4 remains on schedule, as of Wednesday afternoon.

It comes as local government staff and event organizers become increasingly concerned over the dangers of the extreme temperatures this week.
Nearby Lower Providence has already canceled their fireworks and celebration, and Norristown has canceled their parade.
Phoenixville officials said the decision was made "out of concern for the safety of our residents, visitors, volunteers and staff."
"While we are disappointed to cancel, the safety of our community remains our top priority," they added.
Bridge Street and Main Street will remain open to traffic throughout the weekend.
