EAST PIKELAND TOWNSHIP, PA — The ongoing construction project to replace the 68-year-old Spring City Road bridge is expected to be completed at some point in the summer of 2027, officials said.
Work on the project began in early March.
Spring City Road has been shut down between Township Line Road and Wall Street, leading to detours and delays in the area.
The 40-foot long, single span bridge was built in 1958. Construction was needed due to aging infrastructure and to satisfy safety requirements.
"The new structure will correct structural and safety deficiencies, accommodate all legal loads, and provide a safe and efficient crossing over Stony Run," the county shared in a statement.
A six mile detour will remain in place until construction is completed.
