The AVT Sons of Pitches won their second straight Phoenixville Area Recreation Department (PARD) Softball Championship in convincing fashion, besting PJ Ryans by a score of 10-6. The Pitches, who had the overall regular season best record of 14-2, went into the playoffs as the top seed, but were upset by the sixth seeded Sharks in the first round 16-14. The Pitches then had to battle through the losers bracket to get to the final showdown with their rival PJ Ryans.
This is the third straight year the Pitches have played PJ Ryans in the PARD league finals. Three years ago PJ Ryans had one loss and then won back to back games against the undefeated Pitches to take the crown. However in the last two years the roles have been reversed and the Pitches have needed to win back to back games including last night’s exciting contest.
