Annual Schuylkill River Sojourn Postponed
The annual event will not be held in June as planned, with tentative dates scheduled for later in the summer.
The Schuylkill River Sojourn, an annual event gathering together kayakers and canoers who traverse a length of the river, will not be held in June as scheduled due to concerns over coronavirus.
However, the event, originally scheduled for June 6 to June 12, may still take place in August, organizers announced this week. Tentative dates of Aug. 15 to Aug. 23 are in place for the event.
Whether or not the event takes place at that time will depend on the summer water levels of the Schuylkill, as well as what coronavirus health restrictions are in place at that time, organizers said.

The Sojorun will include a digital component, with a "virutal paddling experience." In-person paddling will also be held, if possible. Further details on a potential in-person experience will be made available by Schuylkill River Greenways on Wednesday.
The 2020 event is the 22nd year of the sojourn, a 112 mile paddle from Schuylkill Haven to Philadelphia. More than 4,000 people from 25 states have participated since it began.
