Bridge Demolition On 422 Near Valley Forge To Cause Closures, Stoppages

Additional traffic in the Valley Forge area should be expected next week.

VALLEY FORGE, PA — Additional traffic in the Valley Forge area should be expected next week as a bridge demolition on U.S. 422 gets underway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Thursday.

Lane closures and 15 minute traffic stoppages will be in place from Monday, Oct. 2 through Friday, Oct. 6 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 422, between Trooper Road and U.S. 202.

Closures and stoppages will also be in effect on those days, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., on westbound U.S. 422 between U.S. 202 and Trooper Road.

The work will take place in West Norriton, Upper Merion, and Lower Providence townships.

First Avenue motorists will be directed to use Gulph Road and Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) to access eastbound U.S. 422 during the closure.

The demolition is part of the ongoing project to build wider, stronger bridges across the Schuylkill River and the surrounding area.
