Chesco Resident Is Among The Richest People In The World: Forbes

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The annual Forbes 400 list, which features the richest people on the planet, includes a Chester County woman.

Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, 69, a resident of Coatesville and the largest shareholder of Campbell's Soup, was once again noted on the list. 2019 saw her net worth rise from $2.8 billion to $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.

A total of six billionaires from Pennsylvania made the list, headed up by Victoria Mars, who has a net worth of $7.4 billion.

Philadelphia's titans of sports ownership also made the list. The Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie came in at $2.7 billion, while Phillies owner and tobacco magnate John Middleton — the man who helped ink the largest contract for an athlete in North American sports history at the time last winter — came in at $3.5 billion.

Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon, is once again at the top of the list. His ex-wife, Mackenzie Bezos, who got 25 percent of the couple's shares in Amazon as part of their divorce settlement, is now the 15th richest person in America.

Bezos was followed by Bill Gates' $106 billion.
