CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Chester County Library has been named among the best libraries in the United States.

That's according to the Library Journal, which has been described as the leading information source and periodical of the librarian profession.

It's the second time Chester County Library has received the rare "Star" distinction in the program's 12 year history. Of the 6,333 public libraries around the nation, just 261 are named on this list.

"This national recognition demonstrates the library staff’s dedication and commitment to our community," Marguerite Dube, director of the Chester County Library and Henrietta Hankin Branch Library, said in a statement. “I am extremely grateful to our staff, volunteers, the Board of Trustees and the County Commissioners for their ongoing support.”

To be named to the list, libraries were rated in five categories: number of visitors, circulation, program attendance, public Internet use, and electronic circulation.
