Chester County Nursing Homes Have Seen 19 Coronavirus Deaths

Chester County now has a total of 125 cases of coronavirus in its 15 nursing homes.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A vast majority of deaths from coronavirus in Chester County thus far have taken place in the county's long term care facilities, according to statistics from the state Department of Health.

A total of 19 of Chester County's 26 coronavirus deaths have occurred in one of the 15 facilities within the county.

In addition, Chester County has seen 111 nursing home residents come down with the virus, along with 14 employees at those facilities, as of Thursday morning.

Officials are not releasing the names of the specific nursing homes that have seen fatalities, nor are they specifying how many cases each home has seen. However, a number of cases have been confirmed at the county-run Pocopson Home.

East Vincent remains the municipality in the county hardest hit by the virus, with nine deaths.

Three more deaths were announced county-wide on Thursday, in addition to 46 new cases, bringing the county's total to 722.

Chester County Commissioner Josh Maxwell said that about 8 percent of all individuals infected in the county have required hospitalization thus far.

A total of 3,485 tests given in the county have come back negative.
