Chester County's First Human Case of West Nile In 2016 Reported
A human has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Chester County for the first time in 2016.

A human has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Chester County for the first time in 2016, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced Monday.
Two other cases of West Nile in humans were found on Monday as well, in Northampton and York counties. That brings the total human cases in Pennsylvania to five for 2016. A human tested positive in Philadelphia earlier this month. The first was recorded in Indiana County on July 5.
According to the CDC, about 1 out of every 5 infected humans will develop a fever and other symptoms from West Nile. Less than one percent of humans infected develop a fatal neurological illness, the CDC said.

In addition, positive mosquito samples were found Monday in several Chester County municipalities, including Easttown, Tredyffrin, and Willistown.
Recent chemical sprayings to fight the spread of the disease and the promulgation of mosquitoes have occurred throughout the region.
