Cloudy Taps Possible As Phoenixville Hydrant Flushing Scheduled

Phoenixville hydrant flushing will begin next week, and cloudy tap water is possible, officials note.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville hydrant flushing will begin next week, and cloudy tap water is possible, officials note.

The routine, semi-annual flushing of the borough's fire hydrants is done as a preventative maintenance measure.

It will begin on Monday, Aug. 21 and continue for five weeks.

Flushing will start on the north side from Filmore Street south to Bridge Street, and then continue on south through the borough.

Flushing will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in order to minimize inconvenience to residents.

Taps should return to normal once flushing is complete.

"The benefits from this maintenance work will be realized long after any temporary disturbance is past," Bill Orr, Water Distribution Superintendent, said in a press release.
