PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- The Colonial Theatre is getting national recognition for its work.
The historic Phoenixville theatre has been praised as "outperforming most charities in its cause" by Charity Navigator, a national group which ranks and judges the financial effectiveness of charities across the country.
The Colonial Theatre received the highest possible score, a 4 out of 4 stars ranking, in the most recent evaluation.

"When you give to the Colonial Theatre we wisely, frugally, and responsibly use that contribution to deliver programming," the theatre said on Facebook.
Their overall score, out of 100, was 90.51.More than 81 percent of the theatre's budget is spent on program expenses, according to Charity Navigator. Only 7 percent is spent on administrative costs.

The theatre received $1,421,702 in donations in the 2014 fiscal year.
