Community Rallies Behind Phoenixville Au Pair After Horrific Fire

"Esra is part of my family now and forever," the young girl wrote in a touching letter.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA - Nearly $2,000 have been raised for a Phoenixville au pair whose family lost all their worldly possessions in a fire in Germany.

The online fundraiser at GoFundMe was started by Shannon McHugh Scarpato, a young girl for whom the au pair, Esra, works.

In the last 12 days, $1,730 has been raised for Esra, including 31 donations.

“I have the most beautiful hard woking au pair in the world, Esra,” Shannon wrote. “(And she) never asks for anything.”

According to the fundraiser page, Esra’s family’s dog, Lucy, woke them up and saved them from the December 14 fire, but they still lost everything.

“Esra is part of my family now and forever,” Shannon added.
